WORK EXPERIENCE
TheMacJedi, 1995 – Current
Computer Support and Repair
I started trouble shooting Macs in 1995 as well as freelance design.
Extensive trouble shooting knowledge in all of the graphic applications, Acrobat (PDF output), Quark (QLA), Illustrator, InDesign, PhotoShop, Freehand and Apple’s iLife suite.
Full understanding of the differences between PostScript and TrueType fonts and the problems they cause. I’ve also setup font servers with font managing software.
I’ve used Apple Remote Desktop for management purposes and data retrieval on all Macs and I also use Timbuktu to aid in the maintenance of Macs and PCs.
I’m a research fanatic and all of my family, friends, coworkers and clients benefit from being given good sound advice when deciding what to buy or just what their options are.
Examples of what I do for clients on a regular basis include: technical support; wireless and wired networking; registering and setting up websites; new computer and networking equipment research and purchasing options; as well as, PDA and mobile phone set-up and synchronization with computer systems.
I provide website domain registration, hosting, design and email to many of my clients.
One of my areas of education is video compression for the web. My training came from one of the most highly respected video compression professionals in the industry, Ben Waggoner.
I use a Mac running the latest Mac OS X with extensive knowledge of prior OSes all the way back to System 7 and I’m extremely knowledgeable in all of Apple’s iApps.
I Beta Tested Microsoft’s Xbox Live, Extensis’ Suitcase and Nullriver’s PSPWare (Mac & PC, with credits listed) and I’m a member of Apple’s Developer Connection.
The most important aspect of what I do for my clients is provide answers.
Doe Anderson, 11/98 – 06/05
Advertising and Public Relations
I maintained more than 50 Macintosh computers as well as an Xserve used by Copy Writers, Art Directors, Proof Readers, Designers and Production.
I maintained all Macintosh software application installs and upgrades. I did all Macintosh-related research and support including purchasing, registering products and I handled yearly budgets. I maintained all Macintosh software and their respective licenses.
I managed the phone system with over 200 phones. Including Hicom phone switch management, LC-Win, Siemens PhoneMail, Direct AMO and punchdown blocks. I was responsible for adding and removing both phone and voicemail accounts, moves, changes, deactivating, reactivating and resetting PENs and backing up the switch. By learning all aspects of the phone system I was able to save them huge amounts of time and the relatively high cost of calling Norstan technicians who would have normally provided these services.
I used VectorWorks to create data plans (from the original floorplans) with labeling for ethernet, phone and cable.
I handled editing and compressing video clips for their clients websites.

My administrative responsibilities grew to include client relations, accounting, billing, collections and management of deliveries and pickups.
I also gave demonstrations of real world training practices to Indiana University Southeast Prepress class.
