Rob Jones Tech Support Now Two Years Old

Today Rob Jones Tech Support turns two years old. While I've been doing tech support since 1995, I Incorporated RJTS in 2005.

Today I started by celebrating my anniversary. That is of course if you consider celebrating starting your anniversary with two tech support jobs.

But that afternoon we had our anniversary party. That is of course if you consider partying inviting girls for a sleep over with your daughters while you update your website.

That evening my wife and I went out for a nice anniversary dinner. That is of course if your consider dinner sharing a bag of jalapeno chips while watching a movie on TiVo.

While it might not have been a celebratory day, it was significant. It's my understanding that a lot of small businesses like mine never make it to year two.

I love working on computers, so spending my two year anniversary doing what I enjoy is a huge plus.

Thank you to all of my clients who put your trust in me to keep your computers running and have helped RJTS to be a success.

My first employee, sorta.

I received a call today, the gentlemen asked for Karen Jones (my wife). I said "How can I help you?"

I could already tell that he may a tele-marketer or someone from church wanting Karen to volunteer for something.

He asked if Karen was available. I asked what company he worked for and he said "Rob Jones Tech Support".

I started laughing out loud and looked at Karen who was on the couch next to me. I told Karen the guy on the phone said he worked for Rob Jones Tech Support and she started laughing.

I asked the gentlemen his name "Warren" he said. I asked Warren if he knew he was talking to Rob Jones and he said "I thought I might be".

After telling Warren that I don't remember seeing him around the office (jokingly) I asked why he was calling. He said that he was calling about Karen's domain (Fresh Hot Coffee).

That's when I realized that I knew who I was talking too. As I'm a reseller of many products I realized that Warren actually does work for me.

Warren works for me as part of my web hosting company. It surprised me because I don't remember being notified about them making calls.
I'm not bothered by it, I wish other companies would try to increase my income.

After asking him a few more questions and having a good laugh I let him get back to work.

Apple Store...

This video showcases my new Apple Authorized Business Agent membership.

As an AABA I have the same access to training videos and sales materials as Apple employees and Apple Authorized Resellers.

The Apple Authorized Business Agent program has been running for the last two years and I am now 1 of only 400 members worldwide.

Coffee News

My first ad in Coffee News comes out today 8/21/2006. My ad looks pretty good and the papers are distributed in the same area that I live.

My ad says 10 years Mac support but as of last month it was actually 11 years. I'll get that changed in the next issue.

Here's to hoping this campaign increases my local business.

Generating Income.

Running your own business can be a difficult thing to do. I found out yesterday that I was approved to be Authorized Apple Business Agent.

But this is just one in a long line of things I've done to generate income. I know my persistence will payoff.

Career Day at School

I was only nervous about how my daughter thought I did.

Allyson is in first grade and yesterday I had 20 minutes to describe what I do for a living.

It wasn't really that hard and I had a lot of loot to pass out. I got some stuff from the different companies I do work for so I had a little bit of everything.

After it was all over and the next parent was coming in to present I got my stuff and left, and I said to my wife whom was with me "I forgot to say good bye to Allyson". Which made me feel bad.

So from that moment until the moment I picked her up after school I was nervous about how she thought I did.

When I picked her up from school and as she was getting in the car I said "So how did Daddy do today" She looked at me with a huge grin on her face and said "You did great", then she followed that up with
"I think you were the best".

Happy Daddy.
