Birthdays

Birthdays for the self employeed. Today I'm 37

Today I'm 37. My first phone call of the day was a downed server. So much for not working on my birthday. It's actually no big deal that I'm working on my birthday because I enjoy what I do.

About the server, it seems as though it forgot who it was. So Time Machine (and about hour of time) reminded it and we were back in business. Thank you Time Machine, you kept me from having to rebuild the server.

Happy Birthday to me.

Today I am 35 years old, of course I know that because I asked my wife a couple days ago. After 30 I just stopped remembering which birthday it was.

I know it sounds odd but I really do forget, sometimes I have to do the math just to make sure. Unlike the year (2006) you're nor constantly writing it down and it just doesn't come up that often for me.

Anyway, I've already received my gifts, being the geek that I am everything I wanted is tax deductible because it's computer stuff. My wife got me a new 300GB firewire drive for editing video, maxed out my PowerBooks ram to 2GB. I got a flash drive which I needed for work. For me that's a pretty good stash for me.

In some ways I feel older and in others I still feel young. Based on average life span I only half way there.

Karen and Allyson are taking me to dinner tonight, I'm on Atkins so I get the pork-chops and green-beans. I don't have a problem with it since I've lost over 10lbs in less than two weeks.

I just received a Happy Birthday email from the Tivo Forums, how geeky is that?

UPDATE: They surprised me at dinner with a 1GB iPod Shuffle. Just what I needed for cutting the grass.

My birthday, April 14th

Thanks to everyone that wished me a happy birthday.

Wednesday night (4/13/2005) my wife (Karen) gave me a nice piece of framed artwork made from Chinese Stars I had as a boy (more than 20 years ago). It's very cool looking, I had forgotten about them.

Thursday Morning (4/14/2005) Karen and Allyson bought me my favorite coffee. Thursday afternoon my brother (Brian) took me out to lunch and got me a card that he is proud to say only cost 4 bits.
Thursday afternoon Allyson gave me a gift, this framed heart of her an I (which is now on my desk).

Thursday night Karen and Allyson took me to TGI Fridays for dinner. Then we went home and I saw this on my sidewalk, very nice.

At home I received more gifts, the soundtrack to The Last Dragon (one of my favorite childhood movies next to RAD), cologne, iTunes music card (used for Bon Jovi) and a card and cash from my Mom (spent on Wipeout Pure for my PSP).

Friday afternoon (4/15/2005, after Karen and I completed our taxes online) they took me to see Robots. Followed by great weather and a great weekend.

Very good birthday.

What I got for my birthday, take a look at my gifts.

My day started out with a nice coffee. Karen and Allyson took me to Buckheads for dinner, I love the ribs. Then we stopped at the coffee shop again.

When we got home they had me sit on the couch with my eyes closed as they showered me with gifts. Each of the boxes had a cute little rhyme on them that Karen wrote.

I got tanning sessions (I'm getting pale and needed them), shorts and a shirt (I hate pants), coffee cup warmer (my coffee was getting cold), Allyson made me a coffee mug.

Karen had a special jacket made for me to reflect all of the work I have been doing to my website and my business. The front says rob jones.

The back says themacjedi.com.

It's a great jacket and it was a huge surprise.

P.S. My Mom (Sheila) and brother (Toby) gave me money on Sunday which have already spent on more shorts and shirts.

Today is the day, It's my birthday and I turn a ripe 33.

My wife bought me a caramel latte this morning, ahhhh the beginnings of a good birthday.

If you listen to Your Mac Life you should hear them give me a Happy Birthday shout out tonight.

Sierra's birthday party at C.E.C., loud time.

Chuck-E-Cheese's is OK, but it's way too loud and the whole place is token driven, as a parent I hate that. Allyson had fun with Lydia, and she saved her tickets instead of spending everything.

Allyson's birthday party at Tumble Station.

I think everybody had a good time at this one. All the kids played forever, I like the tunnels better than the other places. I got video of it and Karen took pictures.

Karen's birthday, book theme.

Allyson and I had some surprises for Karen when she got home from work. Allyson got her a pretty box and did a book theme with books, software and a bookshelf. Then we took her to dinner at Tony Roma's.
