Randi, wow that comment was unexpected. What kind of search did you to find an article that included you without your name? JK, I'm sure you were looking up someone else.

How is Ed? I haven't heard from him since he left Santa Claus. Of course Ed is my Uncle, If Dorothy was my aunt then why wouldn't Ed be my uncle?

Yes, all family members that knew me from age 0 to 14 call me Robbie, otherwise it's just Rob.

How old are you, how old am I? How are Tony and Donna? They were always very nice to me. Tony and Glen played with me when I was a toddler.

It's great to hear from you, this was fun.

Tony and Dona's daughter's name is Randi, and I remember you too.
Nannie called you Robbie though, not Rob. I didn't realize Ed is your Uncle.
I can see why Nannie loved your letter. Take care.

Kevin, I checked out Blogo but it's too slimmed down for me and I definitely did not like the way it showed my previous posts in that drawer.

Death to Drawers.

MacJournal doesn't seem to be on par with MarsEdit and lots of people complained about the lack of documentation.

I use MarsEdit, with WordPress and Blogger.

For me, their Forums rock. The support is great and the Dev is really open to new features/ideas. I remember a thread where someone wondered about adding Tumblr . Since much wasn't know, Daniel (the Dev), made contact with the Dev's at Tumblr and posted back why it wouldn't be possible.

When I was testing MarsEdit, before making the dive, I wanted a way to get my posts from Journler to MarsEdit. One quick post to the their Forum and I got an AppleScript to move my Journler entries into MarsEdit and to my Blog.

Glad I purchased it and have never looked back.

I have had a great experience with Cosmo. Just in the month Sept. I have done two jobs. One with critter crusade which lead into another job and then a two page spread with Today's woman magazine. I have been in tons of shows/tv appearances/pieces for the Derby. Modeling and Cosmo has really added to my life and allowed me to go to the Bahamas, Paris, and Mexico. As well as by a 2001 Sypder convertible, pay my way to UK, and I am only 18. With any job you get out of it what you put in. There is not a single model from me to Tyra Banks that didn't have to pay money, take class, or work had themselves to get where they want to be. There are plenty of people that have been helped from Cosmo whether it is financially or with their self confidence.

That's Tammy's job, she approaches people at events and she usually has one of their working models with her. My opinion is that Cosmo could not survive without new recruits, meaning they don't make enough to run their business based on the work their models get. And they are competing with other local agencies.

Tammy will also give you the impression that they need more (in your case) boys. For me it was men.

You also have to consider the fact that you're counting on them to get you work, remember that paperwork that was less than impressive? That feeling is the right one.

Even if you do use an outside photographer they will charge you a lot of money for classes that seem OK but aren't that great and then there's the modeling portfolio. They have ways to make money off of you. Did she mention that most of the stuff to do with modeling is not tax deductible?

A truly reputable agency doesn't need your money up front because they would know how much they could make off of you.

I'm within my legal right to give you my opinion and my opinion is to stay away. You will have buyers remorse and you will kick yourself for being so easily duped. You came to the internet looking for information because of a feeling you had, your feeling was correct, it's too good to be true. The only people that are going to make any money is Cosmo.

We were approached by Tammy at a downtown festival in Lou. Tammy was interested in my one son in particular who is 11. What I would like to know is did Tammy let you know that you have the option to use a photographer outside of Cosmo? Their fees for this ran from 1300 if paid in lump sum to 1600 if payments need to be made. And yes the paperwork they gave me was less than professional.

Any info offered would be appreciated.

OK, one more and I'll stop being obnoxious...I only just noticed though when looking at the pics form the article. The DHARMA symbol is said to have Buddhist/Taoist origins. The patch from the environmentalists that landed on Earth 2 prior landing of the Eden crew also contains a religios symbol. There are 2 Stars of David in the background of each logo.

This one might be a stretch, but it's all just oddly similar. I suppose if you scrutinously compared any two shows, you could find many like things...but...
The smoke monster on Lost sometimes travels in tunnels (the tunnels are noted on the blast door map and the smoke monster tries to pull Locke into one at the end of Season 1). On Earth 2, the crew finds tunnels that "teleport" people to other places on the planet. Teleportation seems to exist on Lost...Linus and a polar bear end up in Tunisa. In fact, the island itself seems to be able to teleport. The direction one travels through the tunnels on Earth 2 are dictated by spiders, right? Well...on Lost, the smoke monster that sometimes travels in the tunnels on the island seems capable of taking the shape of many things...Eko's brother Yemi and the drug smugglers that Eko killed. Well, in the Nikki and Paolo episode from season 3, many folks think that the smoke monster took the form of the spiders that paralyzed Nikki (you hear the ratchety receipt printing sound of the smoke monster when the spiders appear). Is it all related...I don't know...I'm really not sure if it all fits togeter logically...just seems to similar to be unintentional.

No, sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the fact that I can video chat from iChat to another iChat or I can video chat from Xbox Vision Cam to another Vision cam.

You see, I has playing UNO on Xbox Live with my nephew and we were video chatting when my wife sent me a video chat through iChat on my Mac that was next to me.

I was not cross chatting between different devices.

I also noticed that 3 escape pods crash landed in different places on the planet in Earth 2. On Lost, the plane crashed in three sections in different places on the island. The middle section, the tail, and the cockpit. Also, lines/phrases from Earth 2 sometimes pop-up as titles of Lost episodes. There is also a scene in Earth 2 where the commander teaches True and Ulysses a lesson based on the 2 sides of a coin. This is strikingly similar to Locke talking to Walt about the 2 sides/colors in a backgammon game.

I am slightly confused. Are you saying that you used XBOX Live Vision on your XBOX and were able to video chat with someone on a Mac? Is there a hack to get this to work? I would like to use XBLV as my main web cam and talk to my family on their PC/Macs with it. Is this possible?

Sorry for the really old comment!

Valerie, before you decide, look around the web for other responses to Cosmo as well as their BBB reputation.

I toned down my article but there was other stuff about Cosmo that bothered me. I may add it back in.

I to just had a meeting with Tammy, She was quick to ask for the money. Saying I'll take a credit card over the phone. I was approached in a mall. Yes, I feel that I've got the look to do this but, something about this just doesn't feel right. There is no guarantee and they know how to play the game.

Malinda, thanks for your perspective, however, I seriously doubt you are the rule and are the exception.

The thing you have to understand is that Cosmo made expectations that they could never fulfill, that's a form of fraud.

If my perspective leads someone to not use Cosmo or your perspective leads them to use Cosmo that's their own choice.

This article is my way of letting people know what could happen to them because it happened to me.

I am so sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with Cosmo. It is so unfortunate when two people can’t see each others perspective and create a win win for all. I was a model with Cosmo for six years (1989-1995) and I made a lot of money. Grant it, my first year I don’t think I got one call (I was 19 years old). I think the first year you are in the book the clients think you have no experience (and you most likely don’t) so why do they want a newbie working for them when there are others to choose from who have some experience. Then the second year the phone started to ring (I guess now they thought I had some experience, I didn’t). Anyway, the jobs were bad and the pay was worse. I think I stood in Kroger passing out crackers for hours on end. But I took those crappy jobs to gain experience and to let Cosmo know I was serious. Over the next several months the jobs got better and by the next year I was invited to be in the top section of the book. Then I did great!!! I do however think a lot of it has to do with what the clients want. There are a lot of jobs for a young female adult (once you are 21 you can do liquor ads) who has the typical model look. I worked with very few children, older adults or ethnic people. That was not the choice of Cosmo but of the client hiring the talent for a specific job. The client wants to portray their product or service in a certain way. The young blonde model type fits the bill most of the time. I think I was chosen because of my DNA and my level of professionalism.
I do understand their attraction to home school children. It is more convenient. The vast majority of interviews I went on gave me a day or two warning (if not an hour or two) and they were all during business / school hours. I was a freelancer at the time and could go at a moments notice.
I’m sorry you never got a job, who knows the fairy one might have been fun, or not. Modeling was a great experience for me it taught me how to walk into any situation and handle it with confidence. Even if I never got one job the classes and photo shoots helped give me a level of poise and composure that I had not learned anywhere before.
I truly believe that something good always comes out of something ‘bad’. Look for your silver lining to this event in your life and you may just find yourself smiling upon the whole thing.
~Have a great day.

Even though I haven't contacted Cosmo or updated pics of my Grandchild. I feel that they have made no effort on their part either. More or less they got the money and I get nothing and was guaranteed nothing also. So I understand your feelings on this and agree.

As was mentioned on the last MacBreak Weekly, the rear one is on a hub which is on the same bus as all the internal components (keyboard, trackpad, iSight), so it's possible your phone wasn't getting enough bandwidth / power (no idea why that would affect it though).

Hi Tommy, yeah I figured it was you, but I don't sugar coat or pull punches so I thought I would say it like I see it. OK, here's what I understand, some Playstation people (such as yourself) never really got into the whole shock thing and would even turn it off. Therefore your fine without it. Hey, that's cool, except Sony took it away from people who had grown to like it and they lied about the reason why.

It's something I don't want to play without. I don't want to buy a PS3 with a Sixasses controller when the one they should have made in the first place will be out soon. Also, all of the really good games so far have been on the Xbox 360.

Once I have a PS3 I will play some of those other games. But only MGS3, Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 are going to make me want a PS3.

There you go again "vibrator", really, you're down playing a missing feature because you don't care that it's missing.

Analog is input, rumble is feedback. They are both very important.

i suppose you know who i am rob and no im not really defending sony but ive always seen rumble as a secondary feature its not perhaps gimmicky but i would hardly consider it essential for full gameplay experience if im playing oblivion i pretty much know whats going on if im being shot my life is draining. i totally understand being caught up in the action and harbor no ill feelings toward this "feature" but i dont think its worth waiting for the ps3 to ship with it. if i was all into tactile feedback i'd rig a sonic transducer to my surround to kick my chair. not watch my controller vibrate off the table whilst lighting a smoke.ha ha . and to compare analog 360 movement with vibe function seems a bit hasty dontcha think i mean come on. youre comparing a controll revolution with a vibrator.

I've been using Rumble since I bought the PS2 on launch day. Something that Sony included on the PS1. Then I had it on my Xbox and now on my Xbox 360. You calling it gimmicky is like calling analog sticks gimmicky. Sony only excluded them from the PS3 release because of the lawsuit, no other reason. They lied as to why it wasn't in the controller.

You sound like a Sony fanboy who is defending Sony.

Rumble is not gimmicky, it's tactile feedback that provides the player with game related information such as when I'm being shot or that my car is on the curb.

The fact that you used the word gimmicky only proves that your intent was to downplay what's missing from the controller. Maybe Sixaxis is a good controller but I like and prefer the tactile feedback of rumble.

Why do you think Sony is adding it now? Because the lawsuit is over. Sony disappointed me with the PS2 as well.

Hey rob every once in a while i check in on your site because well i seem to be afflicted with the same techno fever. The reason for this writing is to strongly suggest to you the ps3 in combination with at least a 720p widescreen (the majority of ps3 titles are in this format) im running a 40" widscreen lcd with 1080p capabilities and ps3 with outstanding results. the blu-ray drive and high definition television are truly an entertainment blessing. not to mention my lcd has vga and hdmi inputs as well as dvi and s-video allowing me to use nero media home on my pc's drives to organize and store all my movies and music. this setup works very well for me and is worth the coin entirely

I really do like the mighty mouse, as one came with my new MacPro (a 'wired' one), the only two gripes I had was, when you order Bluetooth with your unit, they should include 'wireless' versions of the Keyboard and mouse as well, but other then the fact that the default button/click settings that come out of the box are a bit... ???umm, it just takes a small trip to the mouse control panel to fix that problem.

I really really love the feel of the whole Mighty Mouse, and especially it's very fine grained scrollball. Means a lot of doctors wont really be seeing many people with RSI.

What we do REALLY need is Apple's 'Touch' technology here, as in the iPhone, what about a new touch keyboard, that changes it's keys according to context? (eg. for iTunes, it changes the keyboard to Music related controls, Volume, Next, back, Eject, etc), Would be a god send to poor Chinese/Japanese/Korean users too, their huge character sets.

I watched a Mandarin speaking friend of mine using his G5 to send email's to his non-english peaking relatives in China. struggling with the Input system, and using the Virtual Character palette... Not a pretty sight, I pitied Him, he said "It's a real pain in the butt, and It would be a great Idea" Would do away for the need of having foreign language keyboards layouts, when just the ONE "Multitouch" one would be multilingual out of the box. even Klingon if wanted to!! (heh)

And as for these 'bitches' who comment on peoples grammer on forums and the like, they are silly, and have nothing else better to do, I just Ignore them. Well Said there, man. I find it irritating!.

I like your blog.

I really do like the mighty mouse, as one came with my new MacPro (a ‘wired’ one), the only two gripes I had was, when you order Bluetooth with your unit, they should include ‘wireless’ versions of the Keyboard and mouse as well, but other then the fact that the default button/click settings that come out of the box are a bit… ???umm, it just takes a small trip to the mouse control panel to fix that problem.

I really really love the feel of the whole Mighty Mouse, and especially it’s very fine grained scrollball. Means a lot of doctors wont really be seeing many people with RSI.

I would think your lady client would feel obligated to pay for all of or some of your services. Then she could sue Comp USA as they seem be all about the legaity of the situation. I think they would be willing to settle before sending an expensive lawyer into small claims court.

Just a thought.

Very funny. I watched lost for the first time, all seasons plus the first three of 2006/2007. I told everyone it reminded me to a show called Earth 2. No one remembered the show. I did a search and you all agree.

i haven't watched "Lost" ever (a friend is supposed to give me the first season on DVD) but when i read the premise, first thing i thought of was Earth II.

I kinda liked Earth II, but it was a tad cheesy, too. That may have been the problem as much as the Space aspects-- people don't dislike scifi, they dislike CHEESY SCIFI on primetime.
